Micro Irrigation Project (MIP), a unique and comprehensive project,
launched in November 2003 with an objective of enhancing the crop productivity by
improving the water use efficiency through Micro Irrigation Systems.
In the context of Andhra Pradesh Reorganizaion Act, 2014, new state
of Telangana came into existence on 2nd June 2014. Accordingly, Telangana Micro
Irrigation project was carved out of AP Micro Irrigation Project with an objective
of enhancing the crop productivity by improving the water use efficiency through
micro irrigation systems. At present Telangana Micro Irrigation Project, a unique
and comprehensive project is being implemented in 33 districts, Adilabad, Bhadradri,
Hyderabad, Jagithyal, Jangaon, Jayashankar, Jogulamba-Gadwal, Kamareddy, Karimnagar,
Khammam, Kumarambheem (Asifabad), Mahabubabad, Mahabubnagar, Mancherial, Medak, Medchel,
Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Rajanna (Sirisilla), Rangareddy,
Sangareddy, Siddipet, Suryapet, Vikarabad, Wanaparthy, Warangal rural, Warangal urban, Yadadri, Mulugu & Naryanpet.
So far 8.22 lakh of farmers covered with an area of 8.32 lakh ha by utilizing Rs.4311.62 Crores up to 2022-23.
